Shrugging off the Winter Blues in WI

"Old Man Winter" seems to want to hang out in Wisconsin this year... frigid low temps and windy, snowy days, with ice make for a  looooong winter.  Thankfully, we can look forward to Spring, Brewers opening day, and springtiime events like flowers blooming, but for now- what do we celebrate? Since the GB Packers didn't make it to SuperBowl, I'll just be watching the SuperBowl commercials.

As cold as it gets, I find the snow to make for beautiful , scenic photos... especially after the snow first falls, and it's all so white and pretty. Did I just say that? ;)  Snowflakes rushing at my van's dashboard, or floating and blowing in the wind look like they're dancing and having fun. Maybe God is just trying to keep us entertained- never knowing what weather to expect next. He knows Wisconsinites are tough! :)

So, this winter, I choose to focus on the positive, bright side- we'll appreciate warmer temps MORE when they arrive, we've spent more family time together, we had our streets plowed in a timely fashion, and we gained many new ideas from Pinterest about our interests/hobbies, and have had more time to read and/or write. So very thankful for the internet and for Facebook, so we could continue to stay connected with the outside world!

Being shut up more often than not indoors, we have done more movie-watching, more baking, and more relaxing down time, which has been a plus. I have to say I admire the brave ones who venture out to exercise in this inclement weather. I prefer sitting indoors with my hot apple cider. :)

As the New Year 2014 progrresses, it will eventually get warmer, the snow will melt, and this winter will be a distant memory. So grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea and relax... Monday, March 31 is Brewers Opening Day. Get those grills ready- it will soon be here!

Tis the Season...to buy a house!

Just when we realtors thought we could relax a little for the holidays, we happily discover that there are still buyers shopping for their Christmas gift to themselves...a new home!

I have a friend in California with an offer in on a house, friends in Florida, who just received an offer on their home down south, so they will be looking to purchase something up here, soon.

Yes,the winter months can seem dreary, but maybe it's the spirit of giving, and hope, that helps buyers believe they can find their special home...and even better, receive a great deal, since both parties are usually more motivated and will work hard to make the transaction come together smoothly.

So no BAH-humbug allowed here!! Dreams are becoming reality for my friends, and it's one of the most heart-warming things to see.Patience and perseverance, along with having a good relationship and good communication with their realtor, makes the transition run as smoothly as possible.

So if you know anyone thinking of buying or selling a home, please have them contact me,as I will get them on track to making those wishes come true!! Taking the right steps, will take you closer to your goals, and a realtor can discuss what may be needed to achieve your goal, so you can move on to the next chapter of your life.

Enjoy the holidays, and have fun enjoying time spent with your beloved friends and families, wherever you are! My dad had a plaque on our wall, which read , "HOME is where we love each other." There's no place like home. :) God bless.....and Go,Badgers and Packers!! ;)

Farewell,November...25 days til Christmas

Whoooosh!!! November has flown by.The air is chillier, the wind is whipping up the leaves, but, thankfully, still no snow. Snow-shovelling and driving in the snow can wait til December.

Mobs of shoppers have hit the retail stores,or online shopping websites, but I'm one of the few still recovering from Thanksgiving and its aftermath.Just finished the last of the leftovers.Mmmmm.

December, when it arrives, will bring list-writing,goal-making,and wishes for the coming year.I'm not quite ready for all that....maybe tomorrow I'll be a little more prepared for it.

I guess I will think about getting the Christmas tree up,figure out Christmas menu, finalize gift ideas, and plan a busy calender which always fills up with holiday school concerts, volunteering to ring the Salvation Army bell, office party, and family get-togethers.I better get my Christmas music playing, and make some cookies to get into the Christmas spirit. But,first, I think I would like a nice nap. ;)

I'm thinking of Christmas cards, and sharing photos, and making some homemade gifts this year...so I better get moving.Wishing all a Happy ending of November, and a great start into December, before we gear up for the New Year!!! Yes, I predict lots of naps in between.
